KUALA LUMPUR: It seems like popular actress and host Neelofa can’t travel anywhere without drawing attention, both good and bad, to herself.
When the 28-year-old fashionista from Pasir Mas, Kelantan posted photos of herself at a Victoria’s Secret fashion event in Shanghai on her Instagram account yesterday, Netizens quickly added their two cents in the comments section.
Some couldn’t wrap their heads around her choice of “tudung” as seen in a photo of the star, clad in an elegant black ensemble, posing in front of a magenta neon sign at the function.
Among the over 800 comments that the picture garnered were criticisms that included “what kind of tudung fashion is that”, “no need to wear the tudung if it’s like that” and “not beautiful.”
If that was not enough, her other photos, that featured a panoramic view of the event’s giant stage populated by models, also drew some online finger-wagging.
One irate netizen wrote: “I think it’s not appropriate for a Muslim woman in hijab to go to this kind of event.”
Luckily for the Suri Hati Mr Pilot and Red Velvet star, there were also many cooler heads that came to her defense. One obvious fan wrote: “Whatever people say about her, I still like and admire her.”
