(Showbiz) Girls' Generation member Taeyeon involved in car accident

KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean singer Kim Tae-yeon was reported to have been involved in a three-car rear-end accident at 7.40pm yesterday in Seoul.

According to allkpop, she was driving in the area of Nonhyeon-dong when her Mercedes-Benz had struck a taxi in front of her, which then collided into an Audi vehicle in front of it.

In an official statement, the 29-year-old's agency SM Entertainment explained that the accident was the result of her own careless driving.

"She is very apologetic towards the other drivers and passengers and will work diligently to resolve the post-accident matters.

“After dealing with the traffic accident, she has returned home safely without injuries. We apologise for having caused anxiety,” according to the statement.

Kim, the leader of the top K-Pop girl group Girls' Generation, was reportedly transferred to a hospital straight away due to chest pains.

The driver of the Audi, along with two of the taxi's passengers were given hospital treatments.

Meanwhile, Soompi reported that the police who first arrived at the scene released a preliminary statement saying Kim was "very shaken up" and that the other parties "appeared to have just sustained minor injuries.”

The police also clarified why a blood alcohol content test was not conducted on Kim.

“We give out a sobriety test if there is suspicion of drinking. However, in Tae-yeon’s case, there was no perceivable suggestion that she had been drinking, which is why we did not measure her blood alcohol level.”
