Ex-Westlife singer eyes local duet [NSTtv]

THE frontman of the 1990s boy band Westlife, Shane Filan, 38, is keen to work with Malaysian acts.

The Irish man, who has been flying high as a solo artiste following the disbandment of his group in 2012, is open to collaborations with artistes.

“I would love to collaborate with Malaysian singers. It would be so cool.

“I’ve been talking to my record label about doing a duet with Malaysian artistes.

“No names have popped up, so I welcome suggestions,” said Filan.

“I’m now collaborating with Philippine singer Sitti Navarro on a song.

“So, it would be amazing if I get to do the same thing in Malaysia,” he said in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Filan was in town as part of his Asian tour, which includes a showcase to promote his third album, Love Always.

“I’m always looking for
new ways to interact with my fans.

“So, perhaps collaborating with a Malaysian singer would help me gain new fans here.”

Having been to Malaysia many times, Filan describes Malaysia as one of his favourite countries in Asia.

“When I was with Westlife, we travelled a lot and Malaysia was one of the countries where we created many fond memories.

“We’ve had a lot of success here and performed many great concerts.

“So, to come back to that is a good feeling.

“I hope I can return in the near future.”
