KUALA LUMPUR: The Jan 30 fundraiser concert held for the bedridden composer Datuk Ooi Eow Jin has managed to raise RM77,000.
The concert titled “La Bodega-Zainalabidin Live From The Heart” was held at La Bodega Restaurant in Pavilion Shopping Centre here.
Presenting the cheque to the bedridden Ooi earlier today were Zainalabidin, together with Adibah Noor and a representative from La Bodega.
In a video posted by Zainalabidin’s wife Angelina Asmawi on her Instagram, the Hijau singer who described the 80-year-old Ooi as his hero, said it is hoped that the fund would help lighten the family’s burden in caring for the 80-year-old pianist.
Ooi has been suffering from Alzheimer’s since 2015 and is currently being cared for by his wife and a maid.
