#Showbiz: KL Special Force seizes RM4.7 million box office loot after 4 days

KUALA LUMPUR: Living up to its name, new action film KL Special Force seems to be a force to be reckoned with at the box office after managing to collect around RM4.7 million just four days after premiering in cinemas nationwide.

Not bad for a movie with a working budget of RM4 million. The rapid collection represents a new record for Skop Productions, which produced the cops-and-robbers action drama directed by Syafiq Yusof.

In a report by BH Online yesterday, Syafiq’s father Datuk Yusof Haslam, who is also the film’s producer and Skop's head, said that it was a pleasant surprise that the film managed to accumulate about RM900,000 on the first day of its screening last Thursday.

“The close to RM1 million-collection includes the sneak preview late night screening on Wednesday, which has even topped Abang Long Fadil 2’s opening-day gross last year. It was really unexpected for me, since this is a more serious film as compared to Abang Long Fadil 2 which had a comedy element to it,” he said.

Yusof added that he hoped the film would continue to get support from the cinema-going public in light of other upcoming big blockbuster films such as Pacific Rim: Uprising and Lee Chong Wei: Rise Of The Legend due to open soon.

KL Special Force, which was co-produced with Damofa Productions and Viper Studios, stars Datuk Rosyam Nor, Fattah Amin and Syamsul Yusof.
