Lay won't let kids become idols

EXO boyband member Zhang Yixing, or Lay, opposes the idea of his future children becoming celebrities like him.

According to an Allkpop report, in a recent episode of Chinese reality show Idol Producer, Lay, who is one of the judges, gave advice to contestants and he shared his thoughts about children stepping into the entertainment industry.

“I do not support having my future children becoming actors, singers or hosts. I would rather they become doctors, lawyers, business people, accountants or other traditional professions.”

He said his objection especially applied to future daughters.

“However, I would not object to them singing or acting part-time because everyone has a right to have a productive hobby.”

Idol Producer, which began airing on China’s iQiyi network on Jan 19, portrays the rigorous life of would-be entertainers.

It brings together 100 trainees from 31 entertainment companies and talent agencies from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and sees them undergo recorded training sessions for four months.

Nine of them will be voted by viewers to debut as a boyband.
