Boy wins Ejen Ali video contest, walks home with 1 million AirAsia BIG points

KUALA LUMPUR: A six-year-old boy walked away with 1 million AirAsia BIG points after his 15-second video on Ejen Ali cartoon series won the hearts of the judges.

Muhammad Adam Rashidi Mohd Rafiq, who is a big fan of the famous local animation series, decided to submit a video on his parents' Instagram account when the competition kicked off in September last year.

"My son is a big fan of the cartoon series. Every Friday he would sit in front of the television for half an hour just to watch the series," Mohd Rafiq Ismail said, adding that it was his son’s idea to take part in the competition.

He said Adam was really excited to show off his creativity in the 15-second video which the family shot at a mosque in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

"With this 1 million BIG points, I hope to take my family of four to perform Umrah," said Adam.

Earlier at the event, Ejen Ali and AirAsia launched a MATA Spy Jet, an AirAsia Airbus A320 aircraft decked out with Ejen Ali livery.

"Ejen Ali is the first animation series, to have its own livery design on an AirAsia Airbus A320 aircraft," said AirAsia Malaysia - Commercial head Spencer Lee.

Lee said the partnership concept of #MisiAspirasiAirAsia is to encourage the younger generation to unleash their hidden talents in a fun way.

"This partnership with Ejen Ali has provided a fun experience to the young generation through #MisiAspirasiAirAsia to chase their dreams," he said.

Meanwhile, Primeworks Studios chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar said the livery marks a momentous occasion for Ejen Ali, as the first Malaysian animation to be flying high with AirAsia.

"We take pride in being one of the leading flag bearers of Malaysian animation and with Ejen Ali in the air, we hope more kids around the world will be charmed and inspired by this spunky hero to do great things," he said.

Wau Animation chief executive officer, Usamah Zaid Yasin said he hoped the partnership would open up more windows for the animation industry to flourish.

"It gives us a profound acknowledgement that Malaysian animation has reached new heights that caters to a new level of audience experience, beyond just entertainment." he said.

On March 17, the top four winners for the 1 million BIG points campaign were also invited to join Ejen Ali and AirAsia on a secret mission to bring cheer to the Orion Home, a home housing 87 underprivileged children in Paroi, Negri Sembilan.

The children under the patronage of The Budimas Charitable Foundation were treated to outdoor games, an inspirational talk session by an AirAsia pilot, make-up tutorials with AirAsia cabin crew members also had the privileged to have an exclusive advance screening of Ejen Ali’s latest episode.

Ejen Ali airs on TV3 every Friday at 5.30pm and Saturday 10.30am with international distribution in over 50 countries worldwide.
