#Showbiz: Singer Ara Johari slammed for uploading bit of 'Avengers: Infinity War'

KUALA LUMPUR: Akademi Fantasia 2016 graduate Ara Johari has come under fire from Netizens for recording part of the new Avengers movie in a cinema.

Ara recently uploaded on Instastory a brief video of herself in an unknown cinema viewing British actor Tom Hiddleston as Loki in Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel’s latest blockbuster.

Hiddleston’s dialogue was unclear, but the video was enough to make Netizen Haneez Adilla see red.

To make matters worse, Ara defiantly stated in the caption to her video, “It’s my right! If you think I’ve given a spoiler, don’t follow me, catch this film in a cinema.”

An angry Haneez tweeted that she planned to report Ara to the authorities for live streaming, and lamented that the singer was “not ashamed of her offence”.

Another Netizen, Amri, agreed with Haneez and tweeted that Ara “should not get angry if Marvel stops screening films in Malaysia”.

Fais said: “She’s an artiste, so she should understand copyright issues. It’s wrong to record any bit of a movie!”

Ara subsequently apologised on Instastory, but said that she merely “captured a spoiler” and not the whole movie.

“I’m aware that recording a movie is illegal, but I only snapped a spoiler.”

Perhaps, Ara ought to read what Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) recently said on its Instagram account.

“How many times do we have to remind you recording is illegal in the cinema? We’ve posted on social media and made PSAs, even put a huge warning on screen before a movie,” the statement said.

Ara subsequently uploaded an Instastory video in which she apologised for her act, and promised fellow cinemagoers that she would abide by the law against live streaming.
