#Showbiz: Ally Iskandar's video gets Malaysians fuming mad

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular TV host and producer Ally Iskandar recently uploaded a video clip on his Instagram account that went viral and got tongues wagging hard.

The short clip featured what seemed like camera footage in an LRT carriage with a group of seated passengers.

When a pregnant woman is seen entering the train, the adult passengers either ignore her or are too occupied by their smartphones to notice her.

Eventually, a boy dressed in a school uniform then gets up to offer his seat to the expecting woman who proceeds to sit down.

The 42-year-old TV personality’s post was accompanied by the caption: “Okay, whose kid is this?”

The video naturally drew a multitude of negative comments from Netizens who directed their vitriol at the uncivilised adults in the train clip, with some using very colourful and spicy language to boot.

But the whole video clip was apparently just part of a social experiment. It was reported that one Netizen, who also works as a teacher for a school in town, had revealed that the video was just orchestrated as a social experiment to get a feel for the level of civic mindedness of the general public.

Apparently all of the people in the clip, including the school boy and the pregnant woman, were from the same school and had just acted out the roles after being invited by Ally to take part in the project.

After the clip went viral online, cooler heads had advised other Netizens, who were still churning out heated comments towards the individuals, to stop doing so since the video was not a recording of an actual incident.

On the flip side, many had also praised the boy who gave up his seat in the clip and a few had even contemplated to reward the attentive child with gifts.
