#Showbiz: 'We're still hopeful' — Jamal Abdillah after dealing with 3 miscarriages

KUALA LUMPUR: Pregnancy hadn’t come easy for Datuk Jamal Abdillah, 59, and his wife, Datin Zai Izzati Khairuddin, 24, — the couple experienced three miscarriages within 18 months.

Last March, the legendary crooner had opened up about his struggle to have a baby after his young wife experienced a miscarriage at six weeks.

Nevertheless, the couple who tied the knot on April 1 last year continued to step up efforts towards their baby goals.

However, it was not meant to be when Zai suffered two more miscarriages after that.

“Losing three babies just hurt me as much as it hurt her, since we’ve always wanted to start a family together right away. But as they say, we can only plan.

“Despite these obstacles, we’re keeping a positive mindset and are still hopeful to have a baby to call our own someday,” said Jamal who appeared all calm sharing about his struggle on expanding his family.

“We have met with the doctors and she has undergone some treatment to strengthen her womb. So we’ll see how that goes,” he said when met at a press conference for his upcoming four-night show Konsert Duo Legenda, at Istana Budaya here yesterday.

Jamal already has two sons from his previous marriages — Osama Yamani, 17, from second his marriage to Noraina and Ahmad Zaki Yamani, 11, from his third marriage to Fatimahtuhzahrah.
