#Showbiz: Altimet retires, fans wish him the best

KUALA LUMPUR: After building a name in the hip-hop music scene for almost two decades, popular rapper Altimet who is known for hit tune Kalau Aku Kaya, has signed off for good.

The soon to be 40-year-old bids farewell via a short video posted on his Instagram for fans and followers.

It depicts a footage of his microphone in a recording studio before the lights go off a moment later, signalling the end of his rapping days.

In the caption, he wrote: “Hari last aku kat dalam bilik ni sebagai seorang rapper.” (Today is my last day in this room as a rapper.)

“Kalau dengar lagu aku lepas ni, tu bukan rakaman baru, tapi dah lama ada dalam hard drive aku. (If you hear my songs after this, they are not new material, but ones that have been sitting in my hard drive for far too long).

In previous news reports, Altimet said that his retirement was part of his long-term plan.

He is looking at exploring other creative areas which include producing, writing and composing tunes for fellow artistes.

While fans and followers expressed their sadness to see him go, many were supportive of his decision and wished him well.

A follower, @itsjustiman wrote: “The end has come. Good luck bro. God bless you and thank you for making a good music. We will miss you. Salute!”

Another follower, @bobthecamel said: “One of our baddest rapper is retiring. Thank you altimet for everything you’ve done to the scene.”

Altimet, whose real name is Ahmad Abdul Rahman made his musical debut in 1999 as a member of hip-hop group Teh Tarik Crew.
