KUALA LUMPUR: It seems like successful entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman just can’t get a break with the general public when it comes to his passion for music.
In a post this morning on his Instagram account, the cosmetics mogul-turned-singer highlighted a news report that alleged he had copied the album cover of Justin Bieber’s 2012 release Believe.
The article, with the heading “Just call him Justin Syukri or Aliff Beiber?”, featured an image comparing the Canadian popstar’s cover next to Aliff’s cover for his latest single Biar Apa Orang Kata.
Apparently, it was alleged that Netizens had noticed the similarities and called out Aliff for blatantly imitating the image and style right down to the font type.
In his post, Aliff wrote: “Just call me Syukri. Can’t you tell the difference? For your info, the poster and promo image was created and produced by the (record) label and not by me.”
His new song, with a music video available on his official TV Terlajak Laris YouTube channel, hasn’t fared any better either with Netizens.
Three days ago, the aspiring singer wrote on his IG: “So strange that there are many dislikes. To say that my voice is not nice, I think my vocals are already of a high standard. Trending at No. 1 in Malaysia.”
Aliff added that he made the song, written and composed by Edry Abdul Halim, specifically for those with low self-esteem as a means of encouragement, for everyone was special no matter their skin colour, physical attributes or any other such issues that would cause anxiety or division.
The music video has so far garnered over 676,000 views but has now slid down to the eleventh spot on the trending list.
Although it has also currently received 20,000 likes the song has accumulated more of a negative sentiment with over 38,000 dislikes registered.
The general aversion to Aliff’s new single was bolstered by the close to 5,000 comments that were typically unfavourable towards it as well.
