#Showbiz: Biological mother wants Aliff Syukri's adopted son back?

KUALA LUMPUR: How would you feel if the child you had been raising for almost a year as your own is demanded back by his or her biological parent?

It would naturally be an upsetting experience, just like what cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman is going through right now.

In a recent posting on his Instagram account, the 31-year-old businessman-turned-artiste shared his disappointment when the mother of his adopted child, Qayyum, who is almost one now, had asked for him to be returned to her.

In the post, which was accompanied by an old video clip of a much younger Qayyum, he wrote: “Memang mcm ni ekk ambik anak angkat? time teruk menangis mcm ni x nak pulak ibu kandung dok nak ambik??? ni dah sehat sebuk nak ambik... kalau tau mcm ni tak payah ambik lagi bagus jaga jee bebaik dlm perut tu tak payah gatal kasi org...”

(Is this the norm for child adoption? When the baby seemed too much to handle, the mother gave him up for adoption. But when the baby has grown into a healthy child, she wants it back. Wouldn’t it better for everyone if she had raised him by herself from the beginning?)

Aliff added that he and his wife, Datin Seri Nur Shahida Mohd Rashid, had kept in touch with Qayyum’s biological mother because they didn’t want to cut ties with his family.

But it seems that their good intentions have now backfired.

Apparently, the mother made the request after a video allegedly showing one of his domestic helpers manhandling Qayyum went viral online.

Meanwhile, Aliff added that the bond they shared with the little baby was special, seeing that he and his wife had been caring for the biological mother since she was seven months pregnant.

While some Netizens hoped that he would settle the situation with Qayyum’s biological family amicably, some sympathised with him, agreeing that it would be unfair for the mother to take Qayyum away from him after all the trouble he had gone through to raise him for the past year.

Besides Qayyum, Aliff also has another adopted child, Ameena, who is two months older. He also has four children from his marriage to Nur Shahida, Ammar Ahyan, 10, Qadejah El Zahra, 8, Ibraheem Adham, 6, and 6-month-old Yusoff Al-Qardawi.
