#Showbiz: 'Adam perfectly understands' — Yuna on staying on in LA, despite long-distance from hubby

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-songwriter Yuna may be half-way around the world from her director husband Adam Sinclair, but their long-distance relationship is a challenge she can ably handle.

“No, I don't have any plans to return to Malaysia, as I’m doing well here in the United States. It may be difficult to keep in contact with Adam, but he perfectly understands my career,” she said at the launch of her new range of handbags and shoes, Yuna X Christy Ng at the Bukit Bintang Commercial Centre here recently.

Yuna said that the US was a great place to build her musical career and putting Malaysian music on the world stage.

“It’s always better to be based there, for good career growth, and despite the challenge of being far away from my husband, we’re both used to it,” she said.

Yuna returns to Malaysia every two months and spends quality time with her loved ones in the Klang Valley as well as Perak.

The 33-year-old singer whose real name is Yunalis Mat Zara’ai also said she looked forward to becoming a mother someday.

“No, we’re not planning to have children yet, but when the time comes, I’ll be ready to take a year’s break just to experience pregnancy and look after junior,” she said.

“I’d love to go through the joy of pregnancy and caring for baby. Do pray that things will work out well,” she said.

The singer who is based in Los Angeles, tied the knot with Adam, the younger brother of Gol Dan Gincu actor Ashraf Sinclair on Jan 26 last year. The two met on the set of a television commercial in 2013.
