#Showbiz: An Innuendo reunion is on the way

KUALA LUMPUR: Pop and R&B group Innuendo will be reuniting soon, says its founder member Pot Amir.

However, it will not be a full reunion since Reymee Hussein or Remy has chosen to retire from showbiz.

“We’ve been in discussions last month. We tried hard to persuade Remy to join us, but sadly, he said he wanted to focus on his business,” said Pot in a news report today.

He also said their meeting was unplanned, and they were joined by Primeworks Studios chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar.

The quartet used to be artistes under the Positive Tone record label which Ahmad Izham helmed.

Besides Remy and Pot whose real name is Saiful Amir Abdul Wahab, Innuendo also comprises Tajuddin Mohamad Tahir or Taj and Shamsul Azhar Nazeer or Sam.

“We’ve never met for almost a decade. At that meeting, I talked about Innuendo’s version of The Beatles’ hit Yesterday, but I could not remember how we ended it and neither did the other guys.

“We then sang the song together and miraculously, we got the ending right!

“At that moment, we unanimously agreed to get together again for a reunion concert, as well as some jamming sessions to warm up,” said Pot Amir.

He admitted that die-hard fans of the group felt that they should get back together, since the music scene was currently void of groups who have the ability to sing harmoniously.

“I’ve been told over that nobody does Selamanya or Belaian Jiwa as good as us.

Innuendo was formed in 1992 and famously opened for American R&B group All-4-One which performed in Malaysia in 1995.

It won six awards at the Anugerah Industri Muzik 1998, including Best English Language Artiste and Best Group Vocals.

The group called it quits in 2005, after releasing two albums, Innuendo in 1997 and BrandNuEndo in 2001.

Pot Amir will be performing in the KL Jamm music festival at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) in Jalan Dutamas here on April 26.
