KUALA LUMPUR: There has been much speculation around the calling off of the wedding between singer-songwriter Awi Rafael and actress Atikah Suhaime, set for Sunday.
While it has been reported that Awi had called off the wedding, in a recent update, Atikah’s father responded differently.
Suhaime Jamali commented on an Instagram page stating that it was him who had decided to call off the wedding, not Awi.
“Saya bapak atikah suhaime nak perbetulkan majlis bukan awi batalkan, tapi saya yang batalkan.”
(I am Atikah Suhaime’s father, I would like to say that it wasn’t Awi who called off the wedding, it was me).
In a reply to an Instagram user, Suhaime said: “I do what I have to do, this is for my daughter’s future.” However, it was unclear whose Instagram page he had left the comment on as only a screengrab of the comments was shared by an entertainment portal today.
Awi, 32 and Atikah, 27 were engaged on March 17 last year.
