KUALA LUMPUR: Salih Yaacob is known for his sense of humour, even when it comes to serious matters as academic qualifications.
The veteran comedian is delighted that one of his 13 children, Norfareshah Salih, has now graduated from a local university.
He has always encouraged them to pursue diplomas or degrees, since he merely completed secondary school during his humble beginnings in Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam, Selangor.
Salih, 57, uploaded a photo of them at Norfareshah's convocation ceremony yesterday, and in his caption he said: "Today is Norfareshah's convo. Papa only studied until .... sampai sampaikanlah salam je!"
Netizens were tickled by Salih's witty words, and congratulated both father and daughter for believing in the importance of education.
Some even complimented Norfareshah for her beauty, and likened her to actress Mira Filzah.
"So beautiful, Norfareshah. You look a bit like Mira Filzah. Congrats!" said Shiera.
"Congrats Salih and Norfareshah!" said Saufi.
"A beauty with brains. Well done!" said Abid.
Salih was formerly a singer with Orkes Tentera Darat before becoming an actor in the mid-1980s. His best known films include Mr Os, Jejaka Perasan, Awang Spanar and Bayangan Maut.
Also a singer, he has released six studio albums and his best known songs include Gali Lubang Tutup Lubang and Cuba Jangan Cuba.
Married four times (and once divorced), he is also a radio announcer who joined Sinar FM in 2006.
