#Showbiz: BTS dolls revealed, fans show mixed reactions

KUALA LUMPUR: A wave of mixed reactions from fans of BTS set the internet aflame when US toy maker Mattel finally revealed its highly-anticipated doll collection fashioned after the K-Pop group members.

Needless to say, things got intense as the ARMY were divided over how they felt about the superstar boy band figurines.

“MIC Drop, ARMY! For the first time ever, we’re thrilled to show you the line of #BTSxMattel fashion dolls! Take a look at V, SUGA, Jin, Jung Kook, RM, Jimin and j-hope as dolls inspired by the Idol music video!” tweeted Mattel recently.

The first look of the dolls didn’t sit too well with some fans, while others showed their support. For one, the dolls’ hair was one of the biggest topics of discussion.

Twitter user @Bklaht_Yani tweeted: “They actually look alike. Mattel did a very good job on the faces in my opinion. The faces are very detailed I’m impressed. But, honestly the HAIR… they ruined it with the hair.”

Another user, @heartilyhoseok wrote: “Dear Mattel, why does Taehyung look like the Nickleback singer?”

The reactions continued to flood social media with users expressing their disapproval.

“Are we disappointed? Yes. Are we surprised? Nah,” wrote @foreva._moon.

Despite the criticism, other fans stayed positive and praised Mattel for the hard work.

“Fam, please don’t be rude in the comments of Mattel’s tweets. Whether you appreciate it or not, show some respect! Please,” wrote @jessst0691.

Another user @JiminisBookmark commented: “I absolutely appreciate the effort you put into these dolls. I can’t imagine the pressure your team must have felt to get them right! Well done! The attention to detail in their faces and clothing is fantastic! Thank you!!”

Love it or hate it, the dolls will surely fly off the shelves in no time.
