#Showbiz: It was a dream that led me to Islam - Michael Ang

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular TV drama director and producer Michael Ang has revealed that it was a dream he had two years ago that led him to Islam and his subsequent conversion.

He said that, in the dream, he was led by someone into a room which had a golden pot spouting fragrant water, akin to rose-scented water.

There were also some Arabic writings on the walls of the room.

“I had no idea what I was dreaming about. But, my curiosity led me to search the Internet for similar images and later I realise that the room in my dream was actually the Kaabah,” said Ang, 43, at the preview screening of Ramadan Astro 2019 on the set of TV show MeleTOP in Bukit Jalil, here, recently.

He added that, since then, he slowly started asking his friends about Islam.

Sharing his experience becoming a Muslim, Ang admitted that it was still difficult for him to memorise the Quranic verses in the original Arabic language.

“So, for the time being, while still in the process of learning, I use English translations while praying,” he shared.

Ang is also grateful that his decision to convert to Islam had been received well by his family members, who surprised him by celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri together last year.

“They even bought me lemang to feast on!”
