#Showbiz: 'He must be strong and fight to clear his name' - Azwan Ali

KUALA LUMPUR: Television host Azwan Ali described the viral sex video allegedly linked to Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as a “major test for him”.

The 53-year-old artiste advised his elder brother to “be strong and fight to clear his name”.

The former Muzik Muzik host, who has been living in London since February, said Azmin, 54, was facing his “biggest test” as a successful politician and national leader.

“It is my brother’s greatest test to date, perhaps there are some people out there who want to bring him down. I hope he will stay strong as he always is, and work hard to clear his name,” said Azwan in a news report today.

Azwan admitted that he had received several clips of the video which went viral on WhatsApp from Netizens and was “not surprised”.

“The video did not shock me. I know who my brother is, and I leave it to Malaysians to interpret this!”

In the 14th general election last year, Azwan contested as an independent candidate against incumbent Azmin in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Bukit Antarabangsa, but was defeated.

Azmin is the deputy president of PKR and was Menteri Besar of Selangor from 2014 to 2018.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad denied knowledge of the spread of a sex video and several lewd photos, purportedly of a Cabinet Minister.

The video and photos where two men - including one that resembled a Minister - appeared to be engaging in homosexual acts, were spread via Whatsapp last Monday.
