KUALA LUMPUR: Hollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger recently opened up about his initial reaction when he found out that fellow actor Chris Pratt was dating his daughter Katherine.
According to DigitalSpy.com, the former Mr Olympia and star of such iconic movies such as The Terminator, Predator and Conan The Barbarian talked about it on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, while promoting his new movie, Terminator: Dark Fate.
It must have been quite an intimidating position to be in for Pratt, 40, but the 72-year-old former governor of California said that he had approved of his future son-in-law.
Schwarzenegger even added that he was initially "blown away" by the news that the Guardians Of The Galaxy and Avengers: Endgame star was dating his 29-year-old daughter.
Pratt had become romantically involved with Katherine, an author and the eldest child of Schwarzenegger and broadcast journalist Maria Shriver, back in June last year before announcing their engagement last January. The couple then tied the knot last June in California.
"I'm really happy that he is such a great guy. Not only a very talented guy and a great actor and a great star and all this stuff, but a really kind man and kind to my daughter, which is the most important thing for me," said Schwarzenegger.
The Austria-born actor added: "I was blown away when my daughter was telling me that she was going out with him. (I was like), 'Do you have to be so competitive? I mean, do you have to have a guy that is taller than me, that is bigger than me, that is doing bigger movies than me, all this kind of stuff that makes more money than me? What is going on here?' I think it was really wild to all of a sudden have this guy in the family."
In an Instagram post a day after his wedding, Pratt wrote: "Yesterday was the best day of our lives! We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love. It was intimate, moving and emotional. We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives."
Pratt was previously married to actress Anna Faris from 2009 to 2018 and they have a son named Jack, 7.
