#Showbiz: Red Velvet song to be featured on 'Trolls World Tour'?

KUALA LUMPUR: The Twittersphere was ablaze recently when rumours that the latest single from popular K-Pop sensation Red Velvet would be featured on the soundtrack of an upcoming Hollywood movie, started circulating.

According to Koreaboo, sources revealed that the girl group had recorded an English version of its new single, Psycho, which would be included in the soundtrack of DC’s Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn).

But that turned out to be untrue after DC released an official list of the songs on the soundtrack that did not include the hit tune from the popular quintet.

Although fans were feeling dejected by the outcome, a writer from Billboard apparently teased in a tweet that a song by the group would be featured in a different Hollywood movie instead.

Some speculated that it might be for the upcoming Black Widow movie soundtrack.

But the rumours were put to rest once and for all yesterday when a new trailer for DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour was released online.

In the trailer, a group of five Trolls are seen introducing themselves as “the K-Pop gang” right before breaking into the chorus of Red Velvet’s energetic hot song, Zimzalabim.

Fans were excited by the revelation and even commented on the different hair colours on the Trolls that were similar to what the Red Velvet members sported previously.

This will be the second time that the group has been part of the Trolls franchise.

In 2018, the music outfit's agency, SM Entertainment, released “Hair In The Air” which became the theme song for the Trolls animated series.

The tune was performed by Red Velvet’s Yeri together with NCT’s Renjun, Jeno, and Jaemin.

Meanwhile, there is talk circulating online alleging that Red Velvet’s Joy will be featured in a remix of Cuban-American singer-songwriter Camila Cabello’s My Oh My.

Well, so far, it has yet to be confirmed or denied.
