#Showbiz: Naim Daniel scores 1st big win in AJL34

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular new singer-songwriter Naim Daniel has finally struck gold. His haunting hit single Sumpah won Best Song in Anugerah Juara Lagu 34 (AJL34) last night.

Sumpah which he wrote and composed marked his first win in the annual music awards show held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil here.

"Thank you my dear fans. Your support has brought me this far, and it's a night I'll never forget," said Naim, who has been singing for almost a decade.

Naim took home RM50,000 for Best Song, while Hafiz recieved RM12,000 each for Best Vocals and Best Performance.

Hip-hop singer Aman Ra’s catchy motivational song Bangun won the second prize of RM35,000, while Sarawakian vocal powerhouse Bob Yusof’s Anta Permana written and composed by Ezra Kong and Hael Husaini won the RM20,000 third prize.

Haqiem Rusli’s song Lembah Kesepian, written by Goufran and Ibnu, and composed by Haqiem himself, took home the Fans’ Choice Award.

A total of 12 songs competed in AJL34. The others were Drama performed by Drama Band, composed by Aepul Roza, Daus SRK and Faeez Ikhwan, and written by Syed Syahmir and Nik Adib, Sumpah (Aina Abdul), Ku Bersuara (Ernie Zakri / Syamel, Omar K, Blaine Bakri and John Jeevasingham), Ragaman (Fairuz Misran / Faizal Tahir, Mike Chan and Romeo / Faizal Tahir, Jaare, Karim Karam and Mike Chan), Rampas (Akim And The Majistret / Hang Nadim and Laq / Bunga Cantik), Dinda (Kugiran Masdo / Ali Sariah), and Peneman (Hazama And The Penglipurlara / Tam).

AJL34, which was co-hosted by Awal Ashaari, Haziq Hussni and Sherry Alhadad, was telecast live at 8.30pm on TV3.

The guest artistes for the evening included Liza Hanim, Adibah Noor, Hazami, Jaclyn Victor, Misha Omar, Marsha Londoh, Black, Sarah Suhairi, Datuk M. Nasir, Fredo, Datuk David Arumugam, Datuk Hattan, and Ameng.

Pop queen Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza made a guest appearance joining Bob in singing Anta Permana, which she originally performed.
