#Showbiz: Sugu Pavithra is admirable, and should be idolised, says Chef Wan

KUALA LUMPUR: The social media was abuzz recently when a TV host was upset with local YouTuber duo Sugu Pavithra, for quoting a hefty appearance fee for an hour-long job.

Comparing it to a rate befitting experienced and professional chef, celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail's name was also mentioned.

In a recent news report, Redzuawan or Chef Wan as he is more fondly known, however took the husband-and-wife Internet sensation's side, saying that it was the couple's prerogative to do so.

"If you think that their fee is too expensive, then both parties should discuss and come up with a suitable rate that can be agreed upon," he said.

The 62-year-old chef said he was aware of the YouTuber duo who are fast gaining much attention, including that of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"I've watched their videos (on their YouTube channel) and scores of Malaysians fell for the humble couple for their pleasing tutorials in fluent Malay and spick-and-span kitchen.

"They are very spirited when showing off their cooking skills, and that is impressive and commendable.

"I think they are admirable, and they should be idolised," he added.

Sugu, 29, and Pavithra quickly shot to fame in early May when their cooking videos on their YouTube channel began gaining traction.
