KUALA LUMPUR: In an attempt to calm down a couple quarrelling in public in Subang Jaya recently, actor Hairi Safwan Aznan ended up with a black eye.
Taking to Instagram, the 32-year-old artiste shared a photo of his swollen right eye, with an accompanying caption detailing how he sustained the injury.
"I was walking with my child in my arms, heading towards a pharmacy when I saw a couple arguing. Out of a sudden, I heard the man screaming 'You, whore!' to the woman.
"I really cannot stand women being treated with disrespect. So I approached them. I tried to calm the man down, while telling him to be more respectful towards the woman.
"Instead, he punched me in the eye. I retaliated and in the scuffle, I broke his arm. I stopped when my child cried. The man refused to follow me to lodge a police report, and instead demanded I pay up for injuring him," wrote the Alor Star-born artiste.
Meanwhile, many of Hairi Safwan's followers lauded him for defending the woman's pride.
In his posting, he also reminded his followers to never disrespect the fairer sex by calling them with demeaning names.
