#Showbiz: Sabah artistes featured in youth empowerment anthem 'Sabah Bangkit'

KUALA LUMPUR: Artistes from Sabah have teamed up to produce a new youth empowerment anthem, complete with a five-minute music video featuring scenic locations around the state.

The song, titled Sabah Bangkit (Sabah Rises), had its music video premiered on YouTube yesterday.

Sabah Bangkit boasts a cast of popular singers of various genres, and they include singer-actress Marsha Milan Londoh, rock singer Rich Gimbang of Estranged, pop singers Velvet Aduk (Rich's wife) and Mentor Milenia 2017 winner Elica Paujin, and hip-hop act K-Clique.

Popular television host, producer and actress Daphne Iking also makes a cameo.

The song is produced and co-written by award-winning musician Aizat Amdan and his brother Anas Amdan.

Anas said that he was inspired to create the music video since many young Sabahans were tired over the constant politicking going on in their home state.

"Many of them want to assert themselves and lend their voices to contribute towards nation-building. They have decided to make a difference through creative outlets as singing and dancing, and that is why we've come up with this song," he said in a news report today.

The music video captures Sabah's culture and heritage, and features traditional costumes, scenes of Mount Kinabalu, downtown Kota Kinabalu, and picturesque beaches and valleys in Kota Belud and Kudat.

"We spent three weeks to wrap up the video. We hope that it will be a hit with Malaysians in Sarawak and the Peninsula too," said Anas.

Sabah Bangkit is available on all streaming platforms, and has garnered 30,000 views in 16 hours.
