#Showbiz: Bront nominated in 2 categories at Asian TV Awards

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor Bront Palarae is up for two awards in the coming Asian Television Awards (ATA) on Jan 15, next year.

The 42-year-old star of Bunohan and Halfworlds, has been nominated for Best Actor and Best Actor (Digital) for his role in Viu crime drama series The Bridge 2.

Describing his nomination as a recognition of the talent and hard work of Southeast Asians in television and film, Bront said: "This is my second nomination for ATA after Eropah, Here I Come directed by Bernard Chauly. I'm most honoured to be chosen, and I also represent the entire cast and crew of The Bridge 2."

He added that his nomination proved that Asia, especially Southeast Asia, was teeming with talents, and such talents needed more opportunities to shine on the world stage.

Bront also said that working with television and film producers from outside Malaysia made The Bridge 2 a meaningful endeavour, and expressed gratitude to online streaming service Viu for successfully promoting the crime drama.

"It was great working with brilliant talents from Singapore and Indonesia on The Bridge 2. They were energetic, dynamic and committed. May we all keep up the good work," he said.

The Bridge 2, directed by TJ Lee, Jason Chong and Zahir Omar, received 11 nominations in the awards.

It is also nominated for Best Series, Best Adaptation, Best Supporting Actor (Wan Hanafi Su and Miller Khan), Best Digital Fiction, Best Actress, Best Actress (Digital) (Rebecca Lim) and Best Actor (Digital) (Ario Bayu).
