KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer-actress Miley Cyrus has urged Americans to get vaccinated fast, for their own safety.
Entertainment portal People.com recently reported that the 28-year-old Hannah Montana star recently released a music video for her song Angels Like You, which highlighted the importance of getting vaccinated.
The video featured footage of the National Football League (NFL) Tik Tok Tailgate event in February, which Cyrus attended together with a limited audience of 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers from Florida.
It also contained a heartfelt message, handwritten by Cyrus in which she urged viewers to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.
The message read: "Nearly a year after the world shutdown because of Covid-19, this video was shot at the first concert of its size since the pandemic changed our lives.
"The audience here are fully vaccinated healthcare workers who have been fearlessly and tirelessly fought Covid-19.
"We all look forward to being together again and this can happen sooner than we may have thought with vaccines becoming more available.
"Each of us can help stop the pandemic by being vaccinated.
"Together we can make the experience of live music a reality again."
Cyrus expressed her gratitude to America's "unsung heroes" especially its healthcare workers.
"The dedication of my song can never repay you for your services," she said.
More than 31 million Americans have received full the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the United States' Centre for Disease Control.
Cyrus, the daughter of veteran country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus, has attained the most US Billboard 200 top five albums in the 21st century by a female artiste, with a total of 13 entries.
She became a teen idol portraying the title character of Disney's sitcom Hannah Montana from 2006 to 2011.
Her best known songs include The Climb, Nothing Breaks Like A Heart and Party In The USA.
