#Showbiz: China to digitally remove Zheng Shuang from drama series

KUALA LUMPUR: Disgraced Chinese actress Zheng Shuang will be "erased" by film producers from her drama series, following her surrogacy scandal.

Hong Kong entertainment portal JayneStars reported today that the 29-year-old actress' scenes in A Chinese Ghost Story will be digitally removed.

Zheng's face will be replaced by that of actress Peng Xiaoran who was chosen to replace her.

It is believed that the company behind A Chinese Ghost Story suffered financial losses after dropping Zheng from the series.

Several investors have reportedly planned to take legal action against the company to recover their money.

Zheng reportedly received a salary of 160 million Yuan (RM101.3 million) for A Chinese Ghost Story.

Zheng, who has two dramas Secret Keepers and Jade Lovers that have not been screened, was blacklisted by Chinese film authorities in January.

Her former boyfriend Zhang Heng revealed that he was stranded in the United States for a year, and was taking care of their two children conceived through surrogacy.

He accused Zheng of abandoning the children.

Zheng rose to stardom in the drama series Meteor Shower, and became China's youngest actress to be nominated for Best Actress at the China TV Golden Eagle Awards 2010.
