#Showbiz: Search ropes in new singer from Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: After being left without a vocalist for sometime, legendary rock group Search has decided to rope in a new vocalist for the band, an Indonesian singer.

The rock group made the announcement of a collaboration with singer Denden Gonjales, 38, during a press conference at the Grand Campbell Hotel here yesterday.

"We hope to kick start this project as soon as possible and this collaboration will include live performances and concerts. We may record some of our old songs with him too," said Nordin Mohd Taib or Din who is also Search's guitarist.

Denden who is currently in Jakarta, said via a WhatsApp message, how thrilled he felt to be given such an opportunity to perform with the rock group.

"I was still in Bulgaria when Kid (Search's main guitarist) and Din called me. I couldn't sleep that night. In fact, I'm still in shock until now. It really is a dream come true," said Denden who was in Bulgaria to take part in the country's The Voice.

According to Kid or Hamzah Mohd Taib, they stumbled upon Denden after seeing his YouTube videos doing covers of their hits such as Isabella and Fantasia Bulan Madu and figured that his voice would suit Search very much.

Search also introduced its new bassist and drummer, Yan and Pae respectively. Both the musicians have performed with Search previously.
