KUALA LUMPUR: Squid Game actor Lee Jung-jae won Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Drama Series at the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday.
"Oh my, thank you so much! This is truly huge that's happened to me," said Lee, 49, in a news report by People, yesterday.
"Thank you so much SAG-AFTRA awards and thank you to the global audience for all of your love for Squid Game," he said when accepting his award on stage.
Lee's A-list status has now been solidified by the award he received.
The award also marks his first-ever SAG Award nomination and win.
The actor also received nods for the same role at the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series; and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series under drama category.
The win had made Lee the first actor from Asia and South Korea to receive individual nominations in those categories across all three awards shows.
Meanwhile, he is also reported to have signed a contract with Creative Artists Agency LLC (CAA) from the United States recently.
Based in Los Angeles, CAA is an influential talent and sports agency which represents various big names such as Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, George Clooney and Steven Spielberg.
"Not only will he be acting, Lee will also produce and direct," said a statement from his agency in his native country, Artist Company.
