#Showbiz: Will Smith slaps Thanos in fan-made video

KUALA LUMPUR: Disgraced actor Will Smith seems to have had a "new lease of life" courtesy of Avengers fans.

Some of them have "inducted" Smith into the Marvel Universe, and made him fight supervillain Thanos in a hilarious new meme video.

The brief video was posted on the DC and Marvel official Instagram fan page a few days ago, shortly after Smith's 10-year ban from attending the Oscars for slapping comedian Chris Rock during the annual awards ceremony.

In the video created by Marvel fan and Dubai-based content creator Hunain B. Riaz, Smith is seen suiting up as a member of the Avengers and entering a magical portal created by Dr Strange. He soon comes face-to-face with Thanos and slaps him.

Will's slap of Thanos has garnered more than 28,000 likes, and Netizens have praised Riaz for "clever use of editing".

Riaz previously created a video of a T-Rex dinosaur facing off against Thanos.

At the recent 94th Academy Awards Smith slapped Rock on stage for making a G.I. Jane joke, referring to his actress wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head.

Pinkett Smith has been struggling with alopecia which causes hair loss over the last few years.

Moments after the slapping incident, Smith won the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard, a biographical film about Richard Williams, the tennis coach father of women's tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams.

Smith subsequently apologised for his action, resigned from the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences, and was slapped with a 10-year ban by the Academy.
