#Showbiz: Sutra's all-male odissi dance show returns this weekend

KUALA LUMPUR: The second season of dance show #Males, too! is back by popular demand to thrill fans of Indian classical dance from June 24 to 26.

The show which will take place at the Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) in Petaling Jaya will feature the timeless odissi dance form.

Organised by Sutra Foundation, #Males, too! breaks the mold of the generally female-dominated arena of Odissi by throwing in masculine energy into the mix.

The show will highlight the talents of six of the best dancers from Sutra and the Sutra Dance Outreach Programme, namely Harenthiran Pulingam, Vickneshwaran, Hareen Loganathan, Navineesh, Pradeepan and Jayden Roy.

Narrated by Rajavel Neelamekan, the event will see the dancers setting a different tone onstage by taking on the Depaprasad repertoire.

The audience can expect thrilling performances of the tandava (vigorous) and lasya (refined) in an expression of both strength and sensuality.

Acclaimed dancer and choreographer Datuk Ramli Ibrahim serves as artistic director, together with Geethika Sree and Tan Mei Mei.

Admission to the show which begins at 8pm is by donation of RM33, RM53, RM73 or RM103.
