#Showbiz: Couple drops music video for 'Let Me Love You'

KUALA LUMPUR: Long-running local indie band Couple has released the music video to its latest single, Let Me Love you today.

The music video described as goofy features actor Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin in a comedic role as the power pop band performs the new track.

"What started out as a jangly indie pop tune was transformed into a more modern piece of contemporary alt-pop by combining R&B beats with 80s jangle pop and New Romantics-esque hooks in the studio.

"Imagine Boy Pablo and Joji teaming up with Fun while hanging out with The Smiths and Spandau Ballet, and you might just get this song as a result," said Couple frontman Aidil Rusli in a statement today.

Let Me Love You is part of the lead up to the release of Couple's new studio album, Poptimism, which is set to be released on Sept 23.

"Originally planned for release in 2020, the new album Poptimism had to be put on hold for obvious reasons, as the whole world had to ride out the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Now that we've entered the Endemic phase, and with gigs and concerts roaring back with a vengeance in the last few months, it's finally time to get the ball rolling again for the release of Poptimism," he said.

The new album will be available on all digital platforms from Sept 23.

A physical release (consisting of a standard edition 10-song CD and a collector's boxset containing a limited-edition version of the album, which comes with a second disc containing three unused and previously unreleased songs from the album sessions and demos of the songs on the album) will also be made available soon after.
