#Showbiz: Digital Content Fund for 4 main category winners at Sunday's AIM23

KUALA LUMPUR: Four main award category winners at the upcoming 23rd Anugerah Muzik Industri (AIM23) will receive the music industry Digital Content Fund (DKD) totalling RM320,000 from the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-Komm).

According to a statement yesterday, the four recipients to be awarded with the fund would be winners of Best New Artiste, Best Music Video, Song Of The Year, and Album Of The Year categories.

The added bonus is a form of encouragement and incentive to local music industry practitioners.

While winners of Best New Artiste and Song Of The Year awards will each receive RM50,000, the winner of the Best Music Video will take home RM20,000, and the Album Of The Year recipient will receive the biggest fund of RM200,000.

The fund is one of the Government's important initiatives in supporting and encouraging creative industry practitioners to produce, market and distribute creative content of high value to local and international markets.

"We have just received this good news and RIM as AIM organiser is very appreciative and grateful for the support given by the government to the local music industry players," said Rosmin Hashim, the chairman of the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) and the AIM23 Organising Committee.

"In line with AIM's goal to improve the quality of creative content, the initiative through this fund channeled to the four winners is hoped to be a catalyst for music industry activists to produce high quality and international standard creative content works.''

The fund allocated for the four winners will be channelled to the recording company to the respective winners so that it could be used as an investment to achieve maximum and productive impact, involving various job opportunity chains in the local music industry ecosystem.

AIM23 is taking place at MBSA Auditorium in Shah Alam, Selangor this Sunday.

It will also be aired live on Astro Ria (Astro channel 104) at 9pm.
