KUALA LUMPUR: Children's edutainment streaming platform Durioo+ is going all out to educate young Muslims on the basics of their faith with a new series that combines action, science-fiction and universal values next Ramadan.
Titled ILM-Kebangkitan Khalifah, it is the first Islamic animated series on an online streaming platform and will meet young viewers in March next year.
Durioo+ founder Sinan Ismail said in an interview with Berita Harian Online yesterday that the new series will target youngsters aged between 8 and 12.
"ILM-Kebangkitan Khalifah will have lots of interesting stories tailor-made for primary school children, and the inclusion of science-fiction is because it is a very popular genre for that age group," he said.
"Elements that pre-teens love greatly help them understand the universal teachings of Islam. This new series is edutainment at its best."
Besides producing its own content, Durioo+ also screens children's series produced by fellow Malaysian animation studios such as Les' Copaque.
The company's original series include Little Ammar, Mina Mila and Alif Anis, for children aged 2 to 8.
Durioo+ was launched in February last year, with the support of technology start-up accelerator company Y Combinator from the United States. It has more than 6,000 videos.
