#Showbiz: Cast and crew of Thai film praised for having azan break

KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens from Malaysia and beyond have given the cast and crew of the new Thai film Khong Kaek a big hand for pausing for an azan break at its recent Bangkok launch.

TikTok account holder @wanyoshiki recently uploaded a video of the Muslim cast and crew members of the Thai horror film pausing and performing solat at the launch venue, believed to be a shopping mall in the Thai capital city.

They performed their prayers on a carpet at the corner of the stage, led by a youthful-looking imam.

One netizen said: "Salute the Khong Kaek team. They are sensitive towards the needs of Muslims and minorities in Thailand. This is the way forward for everyone."

Jamal from Malaysia said: "The Khong Kaek team has set a great example of unity in diversity. We should do more of this in our home countries too."

Khong Kaek stars Akara Amarttayakul, Marika Paekiatchalorn and Amena Pinit, and premiered in Thailand on Sept 27.
