#Showbiz: Being single isn't necessarily a sad thing, says Atilia

KUALA LUMPUR: "There's nothing to be sad or feel pitiful when I became single again," shares singer Atilia Haron of her second marriage which ended before the Movement Control Order in 2020.

The 49-year-old singer said that although she and sound engineer Adam Sofian had gone separate ways after six years of marriage, they remained friends as they are still in the same industry.

"While some think it's sad when it ended, especially being single at my age, without having any children, and with menopause looming, I'd be lonely and miserable.

"But I'm happy with my life now. As I'm busy with various projects, I barely had time to feel lonely," shared Atilia when she met with reporters at the screening of the music video of her new single titled Cinta Sampai Mati.

Atilia however, has a new beau, director Shimy Latif, who also directed the music video of her new song.

"We've known each other for two years now. But there's no plan for the next step yet. We just go with the flow."

She also added that her main focus now was to make her mother, legendary jingle queen Salamiah Hassan, 72, happy.

"Since we're both single now, we could spend more time together," said Atilia of her plan with her mother whose husband Gerald Hughes succumbed to cancer after two months of marriage last year.
