#Showbiz: Catch a screening of Ho Yuhang's documentary 'No One Is Illegal' on Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR: Local award-winning filmmaker Ho Yuhang will be screening his documentary, No One Is Illegal, at Gerakbudaya in Petaling Jaya at 1pm this Saturday (Nov 25).

The work sees the director looking into the reasons for the hatred some Indonesians have for Malaysia.

"I've always thought we should have conversations to talk through some problems between Malaysia and Indonesia.

"One day, some Indonesians were protesting against the abuse of Indonesian maids working in Malaysia and they were ranting about 'Ganyang Malaysia' (Crush Malaysia), a familiar slogan during Sukarno's time.

"That became a good opportunity for me to possibly meet the people who were vocal about such violence," he said in a recent statement.

With the help of his Indonesian friends, he wrote to the leader of the vigilante group Bendera, Adian Napitupulu, to see if he could interview him on his plan on crushing Malaysia and he agreed.

"He did the interview like a gentleman and answered every question with anger and humour," said Ho.

Tickets to the screening of the 30-minute documentary are priced at RM10 and can be purchased at www.gerakbudaya.com or at the door.
