#Showbiz: Amylea Azizan weds fireman

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer and composer Amylea Azizan is now married to a fireman from Singapore, Mohammad Aqbar Mohamad.

A statement released today said the couple's marriage solemnisation took place at the 37-year-old artiste's family home near Sungai Petani, Kedah, on an undisclosed date.

At the ceremony, the 40-year-old groom presented Amylea with a copy of the Quran, a telekung (prayer garment for Muslim woman) and a dowry of RM8,888 as wedding gifts.

The ceremony was kept small and private, with only family members and close friends present.

"God is great. It had never occurred to me that I'd be tying the knot anytime soon. Aqbar and I got to know each other through social media only a few months back.

"But when we became closer and comfortable with each other, he proposed," shared the second runner-up of Akademi Fantasia Season 3 back in 2005.

With the groom working across the Causeway, they would be a long-distance couple until they have figured out a solution.

"Everything happened so quick. So we'll just go with the flow at the moment and slowly find out how we can build a home together as we go along this new chapter of our life," said the groom who is also known simply as Ash.

The couple will hold their reception on Jan 27, next year.

Meanwhile, Amylea has come up with a new single titled Panji Putih Buat Pangeran, a song she wrote especially for her husband.

The song will be released next month.
