#Showbiz: Majalah 3 to feature exclusive documentary on Malaysia's 16th King, Al-Sultan Abdullah

KUALA LUMPUR: The five-year term of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah's term as the country's 16th King will be chronicled in a special edition of Majalah 3 on TV3 tonight at 9pm.

The exclusive documentary, titled "Naskhah Diraja: 5 Tahun Pemerintahan Al-Sultan Abdullah", will feature the beloved monarch's warm private persona and leadership skills, as well as intelligence and empathy in dealing with decisions for the well-being of the Malaysian populace.

Some of many of the unprecedented challenges that His Majesty faced during the previous years include the many changes of the Prime Minister, the Covid-19 pandemic and severe floods.

Aside from interviews with many important personalities close to the King, the Majalah 3 production crew was allowed to talk to Al-Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah at Istana Negara on Jan 3 to get a glimpse into their life story and experiences during the five-year term.

Viewers will also get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in the hallowed halls of the Istana Negara and the people who work there.

Al-Sultan Abdullah was sworn in as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31, 2019, in a traditional ceremony and system of monarchy unique in the world, witnessed by the other Malay Rulers, their representatives, yang dipertuas negeri, prime minister, deputy prime minister and cabinet ministers, among others.

His Majesty was elected by the Malay Rulers at the 251st (Special) Meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara on Jan 24, 2019.

Al-Sultan Abdullah ends his five-year reign on Jan 30.

The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has been elected as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term, effective Jan 31, 2024.
