#Showbiz: Veteran keyboardist Md Shah dies

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran keyboardist Md Shah Othman of Kembara and Ilusi fame died at Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Baru at noon yesterday. He was 72.

Ilusi lead singer Ayai said in a news report yesterday that his former bandmate had been suffering from several illnesses, including cancer for some time.

"I only learnt that he had cancer from a close, mutual friend a few days ago. My family and I knew that he had been hospitalised, but we didn't know that he was in critical condition," said Ayai, adding that Md Shah's death came as a shock to him.

Ayai, who won the first season of reality show Gegar Vaganza in 2014, also said that Md Shah was a talented singer.

"He could sing very well but he preferred to play the keyboard. He was the most reserved member of Ilusi, but he was actually full of ideas."

Md Shah was laid to rest at the Sungai Danga Islamic Cemetery in Johor Baru yesterday.
