#Showbiz: Jacqueline Wong contemplated suicide following cheating scandal

KUALA LUMPUR: Almost five years after former TVB actress Jacqueline Wong was caught in a career-ending affair with Hong Kong singer Sammi Cheng's husband Andy Hui, she is finally ready to talk about the cheating scandal.

AsiaOne reported yesterday that Wong, 34, told Commercial Radio Hong Kong that she harboured suicidal thoughts once the public got to know about the scandal.

Wong, who made a showbiz comeback as a singer-songwriter last year, opened up about the emotional roller coaster she went through and revealed that before news of the scandal emerged, she was afraid that it would be exposed.

"I was constantly worried, like a bomb waiting to explode. So when the news came out, I felt calm inside. But after that, my emotions were in a completely different world," she said.

"I wondered if I should disappear from this world. Many friends immediately rushed over to keep an eye on me, but I was in a really bad emotional state."

Wong felt deep remorse towards her family, especially her father and sister, actress Scarlett Wong, who were constantly harassed by the paparazzi.

"With my mental state at that moment, I don't think I would be able to handle it. I felt very guilty because after the incident, my family was harassed," she said.

Wong wanted to make a public apology but was prohibited by TVB.

She later issued a brief statement through her manager, apologising to her family, TVB, and then-boyfriend, actor Kenneth Ma.

Wong went to the United States to avoid public backlash, and only returned to Hong Kong after eight months.
