KUALA LUMPUR: Singer and actress Bella Astillah has filed for divorce from her husband artiste Aliff Aziz at the Federal Territory Syariah Court in Jalan Duta here on Monday.
Bella, whose full name is Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah, showed up at the court earlier today for the first mention of the case, according to a news report.
The 29-year-old artiste was accompanied by her mother Zarinah Astillah and her sister Didi Astillah.
Aliff, however, was not present.
After the mention, Bella told reporters that she is determined that divorce is best for her.
"As everyone knows that we both had been divorced before, I think it'd be best for us to go separate ways now.
"He (Aliff) had agreed and as it is Ramadan, I just want everything to go smoothly…that's all," she said.
Meanwhile, her counsel Azmi Mohd Rais said Aliff could not be at the court today as he was still filming, and that the proceeding will resume next month.
"Today is the first mention for the divorce case, which we filed on Monday. We had filed for a fast track divorce, as Aliff had already agreed to it," he said.
Since last Saturday, the couple had been under the spotlight when Aliff and his co-star in a drama series, Ruhainies had been nabbed for 'khalwat' at a condominium here by the Federal Territories Religious Department (Jawi).
