#Showbiz: 'Projek: High Council' star Fadhli Masoot marries quickly to avoid temptation

KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of Projek: High Council star Fadhli Masoot were surprised to discover that he had tied the knot recently.

Although some had thought that it was either a joke or a promo for an upcoming drama series, the 28-year-old actor confirmed that he had wedded a woman named Suraya on March 2.

"I follow the principle that once a man and woman have legally married, then that's the time to share the news.

"Maybe people think I'm being secretive because I didn't invite the media to the event. It's not my intention to hide it, but I don't have media contacts.

"Usually, when there's an event, my other fellow artiste friends are the ones surrounded by the media," he said in a news report yesterday.

When asked about whether he thought deeply about getting married since he was just starting his acting career, Fadhli said that he leaves it all up to God.

"Perhaps this marriage will open wider avenues of rezeki (sustenance) for my wife and I.

"I've had a heart-to-heart talk with my wife and I won't stop acting while there's still rezeki to do so," he said.

Fadhli added that he was attracted to his wife's gentle character.

"Before this, I had known several women, but with Suraya there seemed to be a kind of feeling that moved me to marry her.

"Besides, I made the decision to get married because I didn't want to make a mistake. I was worried that my iman (faith) wouldn't be strong enough and would be swept away by temptation.

"At least when we get married, we will have self-awareness," he said.

Fadhli and Suraya got married at the Al-Falah USJ 9 Mosque on March 2, while the reception ceremony was held at A Park, Puchong, the following day.
