#Showbiz: I hope 'that' artiste will assist in the investigations - Ayob

KUALA LUMPUR: Konsortium Industri Rakaman Muzik Malaysia (Irama) president Ayob Abdul Majid has called on a male artiste to show up and assist police investigations into a fatal road accident which claimed the life of his son.

Ayob said in a Harian Metro report today that the artiste was a friend of his son Megat Muhammad Thaqief, 24, who died in a road accident along the Kajang-Seremban Highway (Lekas) at midnight on April 24, while he was riding on his BMW SS1000RR high-powered motorcycle.

Megat suffered serious head injuries in the accident, when his motorcycle collided with a car that suddenly stopped after its driver changed direction.

He died at Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar in Seremban.

"My nephew told me that this artiste often rode his motorcycle with my late son. The same artiste was also talking to my nephew when the accident happened," said Ayob, adding that the artiste had refused to assist police investigations for fear of being seen as the "suspect".

Ayob also said that he knew the singer's elder brother well, and had contacted him several times to get him to cooperate with the police.

Megat was buried at the Ukay Perdana Islamic Cemetery in Ulu Klang on April 25.
