#HEALTH: Ensuring good food for B40 families

WHEN family budgets are tight, nutritious food becomes the casualty as people turn to cheaper, albeit unhealthier options to feed their families.

Nowhere is this more evident than in B40 communities and often, the most affected are children.

With this in mind, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) is continuing efforts to aid B40 communities under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Sesama Mara in conjunction with its third anniversary.

Under the Sesama Mara programme umbrella, Air Selangor has distributed its Box of Hope, consisting of essential food items, to 200 families in Pangsapuri Rimba Jaya, Shah Alam.

Among the essential food items include rice, oil, sugar, dry goods and flour.

The contributions were presented by Air Selangor's director/head of operations, Ir. Abas Abdullah, along with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia (YFBM) chief executive officer, Johan Halid and Taylor's Me.Reka Makerspace director, Mike Choong.

As of now, a total of 2,455 boxes have been distributed to B40 communities and selected charities around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The Box of Hope initiative is a collaboration with YFBM, focused towards alleviating the burden of B40 communities.

Box of Hope contributions can also be made at Village Grocer locations, namely Tamarind Square Cyberjaya, MyTown Cheras, 1 Mont Kiara, I-City Mall Shah Alam, and Melawati Mall Ampang.

The public can also make their donation to Air Selangor's CIMB Bank Bhd bank account 80-0798511-8 by noting it as a Box of Hope Initiative Assistance contribution.

Additionally, Air Selangor has recently launched a digital version of the Box of Hope initiative that enables the public to channel their donations online via www.airselangor.com/boxofhope/.
