STAY: One-stop parenting hub

With easy access to a mall and a centre for edutainment and leisure, Sunway Clio Hotel is an ideal stay for families, writes Khairul Ashraf Kammed

“NO boys, we won’t be going to Sunway Lagoon this time but I assure you that we will have an unforgettable weekend at this new hotel,” I tell my sons as soon as we reach the parking area of Sunway Clio Hotel.

As a father of two children aged five and three, Sunway Lagoon is definitely a place wewill not mind spending time at but we will be giving it a miss as our weekend stay is at the former Sunway Pyramid Hotel West.

Due to the hotel’s easy accessibility to theSunway Pyramid Mall and a link via the Westprecinct, there area lot of activities to do.

And at the mall, there are over 900 retail stores and 160 food and beverage outlets.

The kids’ faces only light up when I show them the unobstructed view of the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park from the window of our Deluxe Plus Park Executive Room — the ferris wheel, yellow and orange tube water slide, artificial volcanoes and the long overhanging bridge seem to beteasing us.

“Cheer up kids, I’ll bring you to a place where we can have some fun and your mum can have some ‘me’ time,” I say to the boys to try to liven up their mood.

THE PARENTHOOD

The place that we are heading to is just mere minutes away. After going down the elevator, we walk briefly to the right side of the lobby and exit a door to enter Sunway Pyramid Mall.

Passing by a row of concept stores, we then take an escalator up to the first floor and right before us, we see a miniature Big Ben, the famous landmark in London. We are now at The Parenthood — the country’s first London-themed park which also serves as a one-stop parenting hub providing edutainment and leisure activities for the family.

While I usher my kids to the left side of the aisle which is the Parenthood Playland indoor playground, my wife makes her way to the salon on the right side. This will enable her to have some time off from the kids while I bond with them.

Climbing, crawling, going down slides, playing in a pool of plastic balls, gliding from one end to the other, my kids really enjoy their time here. I pant heavily while trying to catch my breath as the kids pull my hand once again to follow them on their next adventure.

After almost two hours of play, the kids don’t show any signs of fatigue but luckily for me my wife is done with her pampering session and now it’s time for me to take a break. A body massage at the health and wellness centre is perhaps all I need to revitalise myself.

After lunch, weexplore The Parenthood and are surprised to see a myriad of specialised stores catering to baby care products, toys, clothing, stationery, educational materials and more. There is even an international preschool here.

As The Parenthood has all the necessities under one roof, there is no need to venture further into Sunway Pyramid Mall.
