Ramada Plaza Hotel Melaka presents Indonesian Food, Cultural extravaganza

MELAKA: The Ramada Plaza Hotel Melaka is celebrating the strong bond between Indonesia and Malaysia by offering a spread of Indonesian cuisine and a range of cultural performances as part of the Indonesian Food and Cultural promotion, which began on Sept 11.

Held in collaboration with the Republic's Ministry of Education and Tourism Culture, the event will run for two weeks until Sept 24.

State deputy Tourism, River, Beach and Island Development committee chairman Datuk Ghazale Muhamad said gastronomic and cultural events such as this not only attract foreign tourists, but also locals eager to experience the region’s authentic food and traditions.

"In this two-week period until Sept 24, this Indonesian food and culture event will encourage more domestic and international tourists to spend time in Melaka.

"The variety of food and cultural showcases (will) create a win-win situation for both countries," he said.

In addition to various delicacies prepared by chefs from Indonesia, the hotel is presenting a number of traditional performances by Indonesian dancers brought in especially for the event.

Ramada Plaza Hotel general manager Edouard Reizian said they try to hold cultural events annually, to afford their guests the rare experience of different varieties of food and cultures.

The event was launched by Indonesia Consul-General, Haris Nugroho.
