Langkawi listed among top 5 islands in Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards

ALOR STAR: Langkawi has secured a spot among the top five global island destinations in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards for 2023.

Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) deputy chief executive officer Wan Kamarul Faisal Wan Kamaruddin said the recognition underscores the island's natural beauty, warm hospitality, and the dedication of the entire Langkawi community in providing an unforgettable experience for travellers.

"We are thrilled and immensely proud to see Langkawi being continuously recognised as one of the Top 5 island destinations in the world by Condé Nast Traveller's Readers' Choice Awards 2023.

"We extend our sincerest gratitude to the readers and voters of Condé Nast Traveller who have chosen and made Langkawi a global travel gem.

"Still holding on to our position in the top 5, this recognition is testament to our commitment to continue delivering one-of-a-kind experiencers to our visitors," he said in a statement today.

Wan Kamarul Faisal said the recognition also affirmed the Ritz-Carlton Langkawi as one of the world's finest resorts, having featured at number 17 on Condé Nast Traveller's highly esteemed 'The Best Resorts in the World: 2023 Readers' Choice Awards'.

He said the announcement came following the 2022 listing, which also acknowledged Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, The Datai Langkawi, and The St. Regis Langkawi as among the Top 20 Resorts in Asia.

He noted that Langkawi was previously voted as the fourth 'Best Island To Visit In Asia', with three resorts on the island recognised among the Top 20 Resorts in Asia.

"In this year's awards, a staggering 526,518 of Condé Nast readers filled out their annual Readers' Choice Awards survey.

"This continued recognition by Condé Nast Traveller serves as an unequivocal testament that Langkawi offers world class accommodation and facilities," he added.

Meanwhile, Wan Kamarul Faisal said Langkawi has maintained its United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) Global Geopark title.

"The island successfully retained its 'green card' status through four consecutive evaluations conducted by expert geologists," he added.

Commenting further, he said Lada will continuously strive for excellence as a beacon of luxury and sophistication in the world of hospitality.

"This accolade from Condé Nast Traveller only further cements its place among the world's finest islands," he added.
